Widespread COVID-19 Testing for Any Ohioan: Ohio is now opening COVID-19 testing to anyone who would like to be tested. We are in discussion with our local community health center, Lower Lights Christian Health Center, to determine if the regularly scheduled drive thru testing can be expanded to accommodate anyone who wants testing. More information to come in the coming days.
Until further announcement, drive thru COVID-19 testing is currently available to anyone with one or more symptoms of COVID-19 or individuals who need pre-screening for COVID-19 before entering a congregate housing setting. Testing through a partnership with Lower Lights Christian Health Center and the Union County Health Department will continue on Tuesdays from 9am-1pm and Wednesdays from Noon-4pm at the Union County Fairgrounds, 845 N. Main St, Marysville (use State Route 4 entrance). A doctor’s order is not required to receive testing. Testing is free to uninsured individuals and covered by most insurances. This testing is diagnostic testing using a pain-free nasal swab self-administered by the patient. This testing is NOT antibody testing. Pre-registration is recommended. Additionally, Memorial Health, in partnership with UCHD, continues to provide COVID-19 testing for individuals in high risk priority groups 1 & 2 and for Memorial Health patients in priority group 3. This testing (except for patients currently within the Memorial Health system) is done in consultation with the individual’s doctor and the Union County Health Department.

60 Cases Reported in Union County: Union County reports 60 cases of COVID-19 among Union County residents. 43 cases are lab confirmed and 17 cases are probable per CDC definition. 5 cases are considered actively ill (in isolation) and 54 cases have been released from isolation and no longer considered infectious. 1 death has been reported. 4 individuals required hospitalization during their illness (0 currently hospitalized). 3 individuals were asymptomatic. The median age is 38 and the average age is 39. The age range is <1 to 83 years. 55% are male and 45% are female. Illness onset range is Jan. 25 to Jun. 09.
Dr. Acton Steps Down: Governor DeWine announced today Dr. Amy Acton has requested to step down from her role as Director of the Ohio Department of Health. She will now serve as Governor DeWine’s Chief Health Advisor on COVID-19 and other health issues facing Ohioans.
