LETS VAX RIF

Haven’t found the time to get a COVID-19 vaccination yet? The Union County Health Department and the Richwood Independent Fair are partnering to bring quick and easy COVID-19 vaccinations to the Richwood area. We want to make sure access to a vaccine is here for all who want it before the fall and winter seasons. The fair is offering free one-day admission for those with a vaccine appointment. And, for each vaccination done at the fair, $100 will go to the Richwood Independent Fair for health and safety improvement projects at the grounds.

COVID-19 vaccinations will be offered in the Richwood Fair Office:

Wednesday, Sept. 1 from 3-6pm
Saturday, Sept. 4 from 11am-2pm

Appointments can be made by clicking here and selecting the Richwood Fairgrounds location or by calling 937-642-2053.

Appointments are strongly recommended but walk-ins are welcome while supplies last.

Vaccinations will be administered in the fair office and only take about 20 minutes. The two-dose Pfizer vaccine and the one-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccine will both be available. Pfizer vaccine can be given to individuals age 12 and older. The Johnson & Johnson vaccine can be given to individuals age 18 and older. A parent or legal guardian must accompany a minor under age 18.

An additional vaccination clinic will be held Wednesday, Sept. 22 from 3-6pm at the Richwood-North Union Public Library. This clinic will be designed to offer second doses but will also welcome those who have not yet been vaccinated.

Why Get Vaccinated?

The Delta variant is now spreading widely in Ohio. It is primarily affecting those who have not received a COVID-19 vaccine. Serious illness and most hospitalizations are now being seen in people ages 20’s, 30’s, 40’s and 50’s. COVID-19 vaccines are effective at preventing severe illness, hospitalizations and death. The most common side effect of COVID-19 vaccination is redness and swelling at the injection site. Some people have had fatigue and headaches following vaccination. Very rarely do side effects last longer than a day or two.

How do I get my free admission to the fair?

Take a screen shot of the confirmation screen after you make your appointment or save your email confirmation for your appointment. Show the fair gate attendant either the screen shot or the email confirmation on your phone or as a print out and you’ll receive free admission for that day. Unfortunately, reimbursements for fair admission can not be given to those who enter the fairgrounds and get vaccinated without an appointment. Free one-day admission does not apply to season pass holders.

How does the $100 to the Richwood Fair work?

For each person who receives a vaccine at the fair, $100 will be awarded to the Richwood Independent Fair for health and safety improvement projects on the grounds. These improvements include baby changing stations and fall prevention strategies within the newly constructed restroom. The total mini-grant award will not exceed $3,800.
